Ground Source Heat Pumps

Biogas is methane produced from waste or agricultural produce. The UK has circa 1,000MWs of installed capacity running on landfill gas. Alkane has established a presence in the biogas market with its collaboration deal with TEG to provide a joint venture offering to the municipal and commercial markets producing methane from anaerobic digestion. In addition we have applied for planning permission to modify one of our CMM sites to anaerobic digestion biogas. The energy skills are identical to those used in CMM. We will use the same engine type and offer similar operational and managment support. Alkane’s core energy skills make us an ideal partner for landowners and source material suppliers to the sector looking for joint venture members with sector experience.

Biogas works via a biological process which breaks down the feedstock to convert waste and energy crops into methane and a reusable fertiliser. The methane can then be used to power our standard engine units. The current regulatory regime provides strong renewable pricing support to this type of ‘green energy’.
