Alkane and the Community

Alkane takes its responsibilities to local communities and the wider environment very seriously. These include not only ensuring compliance with evolving environmental legislation, but also minimizing our impact on areas of ecological interest and on areas which are important to local communities.

When developing new sites Alkane works closely with Local Authorities and community groups to minimize the environmental impact through discussions on equipment location, wildlife conservation measures or replanting programmes.

Once in full operation the impact on local communities is kept to a minimum. The automatic nature of the generating equipment requires little traffic to site and as the generation equipment is sited within an insulated container, noise pollution is kept to a minimum.

The photograph opposite shows the inside of an insulated container.
